The museum is the farmhouse Karen Blixen lived in between 1917 and 1931, on what was then a coffee estate below the Ngong Hills. The house is furnished largely as it was, and the guided tour covers both the building and the estate's history.
It is a short, easy half-day from central Nairobi and pairs naturally with the Giraffe Centre in the same part of the city.
