Overview
What this trip is.
Longonot is a dormant stratovolcano rising out of the Rift Valley floor near Naivasha. The climb to the crater rim is a sustained uphill walk on loose volcanic soil, and the view from the top takes in the whole valley.
From the rim you can walk the full circuit — about seven kilometres, with a lot of up and down — or turn back the way you came. The crater itself is forested and inaccessible.
