Overview
The journey at a glance.
This route follows the Rift Valley north through four lakes, each of which works differently: the Mara for plains game, Nakuru for rhino, Naivasha for fresh water and hippo, and Bogoria for geothermal springs and flamingo.
Bogoria is the one people remember. Steam vents and geysers come straight out of the shoreline, and when conditions are right the lesser flamingo flocks here are among the largest in East Africa.
It runs privately with a minimum of two travellers, which suits a route where several of the best stops are short and weather-dependent.

Day 1Nairobi → Maasai Mara
Down into the Rift and across to the Mara.
Morning collection in Nairobi, over the escarpment with a viewpoint stop, then Narok and the reserve. Lunch at camp and an afternoon game drive.

Day 2Maasai Mara
A full day on the plains.
Out after breakfast with a picnic lunch, working the grassland and the river country through the best light of the day.

Day 3Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru
North along the valley floor.
An optional early village visit, then breakfast and the drive north past Longonot and Naivasha with lunch on the way. A game drive on arrival takes you to your lodge.

Day 4Lake Nakuru → Lake Naivasha
Rhino, then fresh water.
A morning game drive at Nakuru for rhino and lake-shore game, then a short transfer south to Naivasha. The afternoon is open for a boat ride among the hippo or a walk on Crescent Island, both arranged locally.

Day 5Lake Naivasha → Lake Baringo
Further north, into hotter country.
The drive north takes you past Nakuru and on to Baringo, which is fresh water again and one of Kenya's strongest birding lakes. The country is drier and hotter here, and the afternoon is spent on the lake or along its shore.

Day 6Lake Baringo → Lake Bogoria → Nairobi
Bogoria, then the return to Nairobi.
Travel from Lake Baringo to Lake Bogoria for the hot springs and possible flamingo viewing, then continue to Nairobi. The day is primarily a visit followed by the return road transfer.

The overnight is at Lake Baringo. The catalogue lists Roberts' Camp at the value level and Island Camp Baringo at midrange. It lists no approved true-luxury property here, so luxury is On Request and may require restructuring the overnight. The exact stay is confirmed with your quotation.
Is the price per person?
Yes. Published rates are per person sharing a twin or double room. Solo travellers pay a single-occupancy supplement, which we quote with the rest of the trip.
What does the final price depend on?
Travel dates, the number of people travelling, your accommodation tier, park fees at the time of travel and vehicle arrangements. We reprice every enquiry for the exact dates rather than working from a fixed sheet.
Can the itinerary be changed?
